Vets League: matches 1 & 2, and match 3 reminder

We’re already half-way through the athletics season for the Vets (athletes aged 35+), and it’s been an interesting start.

The first match at Oxford City’s Horspath track was held on Monday 24th April, and opened with a damp evening. Our athletes took part in 100m, 400m, 1500m, 3000SC, Long Jump and Shot. Several PBs were achieved, which was a great start. Well done to all who took part. Results here: Results (thepowerof10.info)

The second match was another wet night, and was hosted by Radley at Tilsley Park in Abingdon on Tuesday 9th May. Unfortunately a lot of people couldn’t make it on a Tuesday, and although our teams were a bit short on numbers, the athletes did a good job, taking part in multiple events including: 200m, 800m, 2000W, Triple Jump, Shot and Discus. Several SBs were recorded. Well done all, but it also looks like there’s room to improve! Results here: Results (thepowerof10.info)

The next match is on Thursday 15th June, 6.30pm start, and will be hosted by Abingdon at Tilsley Park. Let’s all hope that the weather will be good for this one!!!

Track events will be: 2000m Walk (M+W), 1500m (M+W), 200m (M+W), 5000m (M) and Medley Relays (W+M).

Field events will be: Hammer (M+W), Javelin (W), Shot (M), Long Jump (W+M) High Jump (M+W).

Please check your diary and let me know your availability and which event(s) you’d like to be entered in.

Finally, many thanks to our officials and helpers for giving their time and support for the first two matches: Gareth Smith, Richard Jegou and Dawn Ealey. If you think you’d like to help, please let me know, we can always use an extra pair of hands!
