From informal meet-ups at local pubs to annual awards nights, social gatherings help foster a strong sense of community among our members. These events offer a great way to get to know your fellow members, share stories, and celebrate achievements in a fun and informal setting.
The club holds events like group meals after big races, BBQs in the summer, and an annual awards party during the festive season. There are trips to running events outside the local area, making weekends away a blend of competition and socialising. These activities are open to all members ensuring everyone feels welcome and part of the club.
Ho, Ho, Ho, it WAS the White Horse Harriers Christmas Party 2024
Saturday 14th December, 7pm, Wildwood Wantage
As is the tradition, a good bunch of Harriers gathered at Wildwood in Wantage on a crisp December evening to celebrate the season and award various medals. Around 40 revelers enjoyed a meal, drinks, crackers, hats etc. Medals were awarded for the Road and Multi-Terrain series and one lucky Harrier had the start of 2025 rearranged for them – by winning the club’s coveted place at the London Marathon!
After the meal, a smaller group ventured to the Blue Boar for additional hop-based carb loading. The hardiest of them all clocked up some impressive step-counts on the dance floor at Delaney’s.
A jolly and well deserved celebration of another solid year of athletics and running across the club!
We are always keen to hear fresh ideas for social events and we encourage you to get involved. Feel free to share any suggestions with the committee, and we’ll continue to make our club not just a place to train and compete, but also a place to build friendships.
