Club Activities During the Coronavirus Lockdown
All club members have been advised to follow the government’s guidance regarding exercise. However, we can still train and run together – just not in the same place at the same time! The club is hosting a range of virtual activities to keep us together as a community and to keep us in good physical and mental shape until we are back training and running together.
Current there are several virtual fitness training sessions being held each week. The club’s road running league for this year has gone virtual with different challenges being set and club members posting their times.
We have also held two significant and very successful social events:-
On the 25th April we had a chats/interviews with our three senior ladies who had gone on to represent Oxfordshire in the Inter-counties Cross-Country Championships and spearheaded our very successful ladies cross-country team which won the Oxfordshire XC League this last season. It was clear their success was based on their dedication coupled with a positive approach to their training and running.
On the 15th May we were very pleased to be able to host an online chat with one of the top ultra runners in the world, Courtney Dauwalter of the USA. This gave a fascinating insight to her training, racing and general approach to running.
Of course we are all wanting an end to the lockdown restrictions. In the meantime we are doing what we can to maintain our fitness and keep the club connected.
