For the first time this week I have had a few moments to reflect back on the race last weekend.
I was particularly pleased with:
- the kindness of so many of you to give up your time (many for the first time, and others coming back year after year)
- the efficiency with which you all undertook your roles, with very little direction from me
- the fact that Network Rail and Local Highways Authority didn’t close of the bridge at Denchworth – they were very understanding of our requests
- and the weather of course!
I was quite amazed at how this is such an important event in the calendar. One of the runners (Rory Gilmour) sent this in an email …
“Just a thank you for the usual well organized and friendly marshalled race. I always enjoy running the race as it is my local and I have run it seventeen times.“
Another (Hamish Overend) also commented …
“Thank you very much for arranging the half marathon event today. It was really well organised and all the road marshals were excellent looking after safety and encouraging us along the way!“
