This route starts in Wolvercote, to the northwest of Oxford. It follows a road for the first (and last 1.5km) to Wytham village, but then does a circuit of Wytham Great Wood – a beautiful patch of woodland of huge conservation/research interest. There are no dogs allowed in the wood.
If you want to add on more distance, you can follow the Thames downstream from Godstow Abbey to the next footbridge across the river and return on the east bank through Port Meadow. Afterwards you can get a great brunch at Jacobs Inn in Wolvercote.
