Training

THURSDAY 6.55pm (This is the club’s main training session)

Autumn/Winter location (Sept – March)

Wantage Leisure Centre, Portway, Wantage, Oxfordshire OX12 9BY

Summer location (April – August)

King Alfred’s Academy West Site, Challow Road, Wantage, OX12 9DU

GROUPS:

Juniors

Typically an hours training usually under the supervision of Club Coaches, Tom King and Angela Briscoe, Lisa Parker-Smith and Dick Jegou

We welcome any aspiring athlete aged ‘Year 7’ upwards.  New starters are welcomed on the first Thursday of the month.  This allows the coaches to talk to the new starter and fit them into the training program.

Seniors

We usually have three groups of seniors

  • 7.00-8.30 min/mile pace
  • Intermediates – 8.30-11 min/mile pace
  • Welcome Group 11 min/mile plus pace

 

Structured Training

Our Runleaders have put together a structured training programme to improve your form and speed as well as minimise injuries.  The sessions are designed so all levels can happily train together.  You can find details inc what, where and when at Summer 2017 Training Plan

Saturday 8.00am 

The Intermediates Group Sat run is definitely worth getting up for, as it usually takes in scenic Oxfordshire trails and sometimes includes breakfast at the end!  Details of meeting at the following locations.    More info

Sunday 8.55am

On non-race days there is a guided trail run through the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside. (sometimes followed by tea & cake).  Typically we’ll run on The Ridgeway, but occasionally seek out new routes around Oxford, Hungerford or Savernake Forest.

It’s a long social run, at talking pace.

We usually meet at Court Hill Centre, Wantage OX12 9NE.  Please follow our Facebook page for updates.

Tuesday

Seniors (all levels)  7.00pm

Plyometrics session

Our Runleaders have put together the training plan for any Harriers wanting to build their pace, distance and improve their form.  The session is organized so all levels can comfortably train together.  We’ll host training alternate Tuesdays and meet at King Alfreds West Site (see above).  Please download details at Summer 2017 Structured Training.

Competitive Juniors.  7.00pm

A track session under the supervision of Club Coaches, Tom King and Angela Briscoe at Tilsley Park, Dunmore Rd, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 1PU
