T&F – Vets League end of season

With the Olympics in full swing, and the athletics now featuring most evenings, it seems the perfect time to conclude Vets League reporting this year.

The final two matches were held in quick succession on Thursday 4th July at Tilsley Park in Abingdon, and then on Friday 12th July at Foundation Park in Swindon.

Our congratulations to the following athletes who achieved new PBs: Jac Hall W40 Long Jump PB and new club record for this age category; Clare Hazell W50 1500m PB and club record (replacing previous time set by Ros Burgess in 2018); Paul Wileman M45 Long Jump PB; Rob Suddaby M40 200m & 100m PBs; Martin Smith M65 200m PB and new club record.

A special mention also to Tom King. He set a new club record of 6.18m for M65 Triple Jump on 12th July at Swindon. It should also be noted that after checking the records an error has been recorded in M55 Triple Jump, which means we have to remove Simon Leech’s M55 TJ 7.55m recorded at Horspath 4.8.21 and instate Tom King’s 7.63m M55 TJ recorded at Abingdon 30.6.14.

I’ll be updating club record pages shortly. If you think a club record has an error/omission or needs to be recorded then please let me know (with links to Power of 10 for verifications).

Well done everyone and thanks for taking part this year! Now, let’s get back to the Stade de France…

addendum: Our grateful thanks also go to our T&F Officials: Bruce Charles, Richard Jegou and Gareth Smith, without whom we wouldn’t be able to take part. If you think you’d like to become more involved in T&F please ask one of the coaches or leaders and we’ll do our best to answer your questions and point you in the best direction. We’d also be happy to discuss the options of becoming an offical – as these roles are vital to all clubs and athletes.
