Cirencester XC
A big turnout and strong results at the second OCCL Fixture
White Horse Harriers, together with Didcot Runners, hosted a fabulous December XC fixture at Cirencester Park for Oxfordshire Cross Country League. Cirencester is a fantastic and popular course, which includes lots of (steep) hills, woods and mud!
Despite a large number of Harriers volunteering to help with race marshalling and timekeeping, we still had 55 Harriers competing on the day. We had 17 juniors running, including Josie, Ella and Grace and Zack in their first XC, as well as Mattie and Josh joining from Woodcote.
We had 21 men running, making up three teams of seven runners. Our men’s ‘A’ team, finished 2nd in their division, continuing their campaign to be one of the two teams to get promoted into the Division 1. The men’s ‘B’ team finished 3rd in Division 3. Pete Sudbury in his first XC for the Harriers was 2nd in his age group.
The women team seemed to be having the most fun, and had 17 Harriers running, making up five teams of three runners. They re-established their dominant position, with Sophie winning comfortably, Becky (4th) and Lucy (16th) making up the winning team. They are clearly gunning to retain their Champions title from the 2019/20 season. The ‘B’ team came top of Division 2, and our ‘C’ team came 2nd in Division 3, holding up the possibility that the ‘B’ and ‘C’ teams could both be promoted at the end of the season.
